Octogenarian Comes to End of
Long Journey

Arabella Peterson was the eldest of the seven children of Aaron and Mary Karns Peterson, and was born in Fayette county, Penn., December 21, 1830. She died July 16, 1913, at the home of her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gregory, in Watseka, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 26 days.

She was married to Isaac F. Veach in 1856, and to this union three children were born, Mrs. Kate V. Gregory and Doak Veach of Watseka, and Mrs. Ada V. Romine of Champaign. Mr. Veach died in March 1861. In September 1863, she was married to James Wasson in Henry county, Ind. To this union three sons were born, Clay, who died at the age of 4 years, Mark W., living at Lafayette, Louisana, and Richard M., of Centralia, Washington. Mr. Wasson had been married twice before, and has a daughter, Mrs. Flora Wasson James living at Madison, Kan., and one son B. Frank Wasson, living near Los Angeles, Calif. Owing to distance Mark, Frank, and Mrs. James were not able to be present.

Mrs. Wasson is survived by one brother, Abner T. Peterson of Sedan, Kans., and three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Hoober of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Maria P. Jetmore of Topeka, Kan., and Mrs. Jane E. Hackney of Eaton, Ind. She also leaves ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, the latter being the grandchildren of Doak and Adda Mead Veach.

Mr. and Mrs. Wasson located in Watseka in 1866, and moved into the old home on New Year's day in 1867. Mrs. Wasson died in 1885. Mrs. Wasson continued to live in the old home until recently on account of failing health she became a member of her daughter's family.

The funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. F. J. Cope of the Friends church in the absence of Rev. Powell of the Methodist church. Music by Mrs. M. A. Stanley and Miss Mildred Hogie. Interment was in the Oak Hill cemetery beside her husband.
