Services were held on Saturday March 17, for Walter L. Schoessler, a lifelong Ritzville resident, who died on Wednesday, March 14.
Mrs. Schoessler was born August 24, 1906 to Henry and Katherine Yost Schoessler. He graduated from Ritzville High School in 1925 and worked for his father and other area farmers until 1942 when he acquired his own farm.
He married Anna McRae on Sept 10, 1936, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Sept of 1986. They retired in 1972 and later moved into town from the farm. (This information is incorrect, as the only spent 6 months in 1986 and then returned to their original home).
Mr. Schoessler was a member of the Zion Congregational Church and the Washington Association of Wheat Growers.
Survivors include his wife Ann at home, one daughter and one son. (Names deleted for privacy); two brothers Raymond Schoessler and Marvin Schoessler, both of Ritzville; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Max Oliphant officiated at the 11 a.m. service Sacred selections were "The Lords Prayer and "The Family of God" sung by Roy Murrell with Mrs. Evelyn Heider at the organ. Congreational hymns were "Love Divine All Love's Excelling" and "Work for the Night is Coming."
Casket bearers were Lynn Schoessler, Bo Gingrich, Dale Galbreath, John Schoessler, Stan Dormaier and Doug McRae. Honorary bearers were Martha Vostral, Mary Anne Phipps, Lester Luiten, Mildred Tanner, Thelma Williams, Wilma Knuth, Dena and Gary Roberts and Joanne and Joe Bell.
Concluding services were at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
