Ira Ash, age 79, of Wellington, died Wednesday at his home. He was born on June 15, 1927 in West Virginia, and has lived in the Wellington area for 39 years. He retired from US Steel in Lorain in 1988. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of Wellington American Legion, Moose Lodge in Medina. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed discussing politics and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughters Pam (Carmelo) Irizarry, of Elyria, Rebecca (Frank) Breitenstein, of Kernersville, NC, and Carolyn (Kendall) Bolyard, of Wellington, a sister Mavis Hines, of Elyria, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary
Jane, his parents Ira and Delsie (Life) Ash, a sister Avis McCourt, and two brothers, Oden and Denver Ash.

Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman, is where services will be held on Monday at 11:00. Burial will follow at Camden Cemetery.
