Sheppard, Orpha Jane (Clemings)
1858 – 24 Aug 1915
Mrs. George Sheppard died Tuesday morning at her home in Franklin Township, nine miles southeast of this city, after being ill with heart trouble for the past eight weeks. She was born in Hopewell Township in 1856, and was married to Mr. Sheppard 41 years. She is survived by her husband and two children, Mrs. John Handley of Madison Township and Arthur of the home, one brother, Sylvester Clemings of this city and four sisters: Mrs. George Ryan of this city; Mrs. John English of Marshall, IL; Mrs. Samantha Orr of Hardin County OH; and Mrs. William Cougill of Clay Lick, this county.
Mrs. Sheppard was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Union Church, accepting the faith while a girl in her teens. She was active in all church and Sunday school work and was a grand Christian woman, ever ready with a helping hand wherever she could d good. She was an excellent neighbor and numbered her friends by legions. The funeral will take place Thursday morning from the Mt. Carmel Church, the cortege leaving the house at 10 o'clock standard time. Interment will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery.
