Mahalah Mae Lower was born to Benjamin and Catherine Beckley Lower in Crawford Twp. Coshocton Co. OH. She had thirteen siblings.

Mahalah married a cousin, Jeremiah Lower 28 Feb 1856 in Coshocton Co. OH. He was the son of George and Susanna Miller Lower.

Jeremiah and Mahalah were the parents of Amanda R (Frank Wellington), Mary E (George R Markham), Susanna K (David Auer), George F (Nellie Lathrop & Louise Landon), Elizabeth A (George A Guilford), Clara E (Oliver C Johnson), Sara "Sadie" Jane (George L Hoyt), & Oscar W (Emily M Ward).

In 1883 the entire family loaded all their earthly possessions onto a train and relocated to Marshall, Calhoun Co. MI. The children would remain through adulthood in close proximity to one another and are buried near to each other in Oakridge Cemetery.

Mahalah passed away March 22, 1904, at the age of 67 yrs old. Jeremiah on June 15, 1914, at 78 yrs of age. Submitted by Great Grandson - Peter A Rodgers grandson of Oscar Warren Lower, son of Virginia Mae Lower Rodgers.
