Mary Louise Carver, 68, of Sterling, died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at home following a long illness.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel, 225 East Platte Ave,Fort Morgan. with the Rev. Frank Lay officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
Mrs. Carver was born Nov. 29, 1930 to William and Louise (Riggle) Winkler. She grew up and attended school in Brush.
On Dec. 5, 1946 she married Jerald Carver at St. Francis, Kan. They settled in Fort Morgan and she worked as a clerk for Mode-O-Day and Ranch Wholesale. In 1979 she moved to a small farm near Bruning, Neb.
In Bruning she was a director of Blue Valley Community Action, a collection and distribution center for household goods and clothing. Following retirement in 1995, she moved to Sterling.
She is survived by one son, David Carver and wife Linda of Yuma, Ariz.; three daughters, Dorothy Kaus and husband John of Sterling, Diana Sterkel and husband Larry of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., and Denise Durflinger and husband Robert of Post Falls, Idaho; two brothers, Fred Winkler of Carson City, Nev. and George Winkler of Brush; one sister, Evelyn King of Brush; eight grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald Carver, on May 17, 1974, and one sister.
She enjoyed gardening, riding and caring for horses, fish ing, hunting, sewing, and antiquing.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Sterling in care of the family or the mortuary.
