Eleanor Brinton Christensen was born June 12, 1924 in Murray, Utah and passed away on August 20, 2009 in Cedar Hills, Utah at the age of 85 from causes incident to age.

She was the daughter of David Branson Brinton, Jr. and Ethel Simons Brinton and was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister: David Branson Brinton, III, Sherman Simons Brinton, Marshall Knight Brinton and Barbara Brinton Wise, and her two sons.

She married her sweetheart and World War II hero, Horace H. "Chris" Christensen, on September 12, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They had been married for 56 years when he passed away in 2002.

She was the mother of six children: Ann Ball (husband Robert) of Amarillo, Texas, Sharon Holt (husband Bayles) of San Jose, California, Kent Brinton Christensen (deceased), Peter Branson Christensen (deceased) (wife Ardis Taylor Padgett) of Tampa, Florida, Katherine Christensen of Arlington, Virginia, and Carolyn Hamilton (husband Scott) of Cedar Hills, Utah.

Eleanor grew up in Murray, Utah and graduated from Murray High School and the University of Utah, with a BS in bacteriology and medical technology. She spent almost all of her married life in Schenectady and Endwell, New York.

Eleanor loved her husband, family, church, temple work, music, reading, and swimming. Her life was one of service to her family, friends and neighbors. Eleanor served in many church callings in the women's Relief Society (four times as president) and children's Primary (10 years as stake Primary president). She encouraged and fed hundreds of LDS church missionaries and cheered on numerous Eagle Scouts.

She volunteered in her children's schools and always encouraged those around her to read, pursue education, and practice their music lessons. She played the violin in local orchestras in Schenectady and Binghamton, New York for many decades. She was a member of the same book club for 40 years and enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband.

Eleanor's greatest legacy is her posterity. In addition to her six children and their spouses, she has 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Her favorite quotes are "The Gospel is true" and 3rd John 4 which states, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 in the LDS Chapel at 9737 North Chesterfield Drive in Cedar Hills. Friends and family are welcome to a viewing from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Vestal Hills Cemetery in Vestal, New York next to her husband and sons.
