Pvt. Jones survived the torpedoing and sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on 5 February 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland & Ireland by German submarine UB-77.

James Cullis Jones and his wife, Dora, were found dead in the wreckage of their car on Friday 6 June 1969, west of Fredericksburg TX on U.S. 290.
