Al L. Guymon, 92, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of Rockton and DeKalb, Ill., born Feb. 19, 1917, in Percy, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at the Alpine Fireside Health Center in Rockford, Ill.
Mr. Guymon was formerly employed as a manager of the State of Illinois Employment Office and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was a member of DeKalb Kiwanis Club for many years and a former member of the Brooksville Florida Lions Club. Al enjoyed going to the Northern Illinois University basketball and football games over the years.
Al preceded in death by his wife, Jo June, nee Howard, Guymon, whom he married on March 9, 1940 in East St. Louis, Ill.; parents, William E. and Minnie, nee Smith, Guymon; his grandson, Derek Guymon; his daughter-in-law, Susan Guymon; his brother, Otis; and his sister, Margaret.
Surviving are his two sons, William (Janice) Guymon of Roscoe, Ill., and Jerry Guymon of DeKalb, Ill.; his five grandchildren, Amy (David) Elliott of DeKalb, Ill., Janelle (Mike) Dimitriou of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Michelle (Dave) Clayton of Cortland, Ill., Chad Guymon of Rockford, Ill., and Kyle (Jennifer) Guymon of DeKalb, Ill.; seven great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
