Services for Kay R. Chapman, 65, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.

Ms. Chapman died Tuesday, April 21, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 3, 1938, in Arkansas City, Kan., the daughter of Arnold B. and Grace E. (Madden) Chapman. She lived in Perry from 1967 to 1979, when she moved to Lawrence.

Ms. Chapman worked for the Kmart Distribution Center for more than 20 years until she retired in 2001. She was a member of Southern Baptist Church in Dexter and had been a Girl Scout leader.

She married John L. Copple in 1957 in Arkansas City. He died earlier.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelley K. Lipp, Lawrence, and Tracy J. Ogden-Baxter, Eudora; three stepdaughters, Linda Van Leuween, Tulsa, Okla., Mary Ann Sanders, Oswego, and Aleta Spreer, Grantville; a stepson, John Copple Jr., Cedar Vale; three brothers, Jan L. Chapman, Chula Vista, Calif., Ross Rommel, Arkansas City, and Chris Rommel, Spencer, Ind.; two sisters, Penny Johnson, Tucson, Ariz., and Pam Mitchell, Okmulgee, Okla.; five grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
