Robert served as a Second Lieutenant & Navigator on C-47 #41-38707, 28th Troop Carrier Squadron, 60th Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Merrimack County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

C-47 #41-38707 took off from Brindisi, Italy on a Supply Mission. It is believed they crashed due to extreme weather conditions.

Robert was killed in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash during the war.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on November 29, 1949.

Service # O-814163

The reason he is named on a group headstone is because when soldier's were killed in close proximity to each other they were unable, at that time, to identify them separately and interred their remains together in one grave.
