Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 12 Mar 1926
"Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rose, aged 83 years, widow of the late Henry B. Rose, and a resident for many years of Rosemont, died suddenly on Friday afternoon at the home of her son, Charles E. Rose, Oak Knoll Drive. Mrs. Rose came to the home of her son last Sunday to spend the spring months with them as had been her custom for a number of years. She had been only slightly indisposed during the week, and had been able to be about the house every day. Friday afternoon she went into the solarium with her granddaughter, Miss Martha Rose, had been there only a short time when she was overcome by a fainting spell, and expired before medical aid could reach her. Mrs. Rose was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Moherman, early settlers of Jackson township. She was born in North Jackson April 5, 1843, and spent her early life there. On June 25, 1868 she was married to Henry B. Rose, who preceded her in death in 1917, and his death was followed shortly by the death of a son, Chauncey. She is now survived by one son, Charles E. Rose of Warren, three grandchildren, Misses Martha, Virginia Rose of Warren, and Dorothy Rose of Newton Falls, and a brother, Robert A. Moherman, of North Jackson. In her childhood Mrs. Rose united with the Christian church and was an active worker in all its organizations. She was a woman of exemplary character and christian influence in her neighborhood and in her home, and was loved by a large number of friends. The body was taken to her old home in Rosemont Sunday morning and funeral services were held there Monday [8th] afternoon at one o'clock, Rev. C. M. Oliphant officiated and interment was in the North Jackson cemetery.

Advising the Dispatch of the passing of his mother, Mr. Rose wrote as follows:
"I want to say that if you have a more loyal reader of the Dispatch than mother was, he or she is a good one. It was hard for her to wait until it came from the post office each Friday. Just last Thursday night she asked me if I would get my paper the next day. When I was called home the next afternoon the moment she was stricken, I hastened, reaching her side in thirty minutes, and the Dispatch in my pocket, but found she had passed from this life, without getting to see the paper she was longing for to read that day. Mother retained her faculties to the end. She spent most of her time reading. My chief thought was to save clippings or papers to take or send to her each week."

"The funeral this afternoon was large – many came from a distance – three of her cousins of the name of Moherman (William, Tillie and Jay) drove this cold day from Ashland, O."
