LENOX TOWNSHIP — E. Irene Hamilton, age 97, of E. Union Road, Lenox Township, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2016, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Auburn, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Krieg) Luce and has been a lifelong resident of Jefferson, wintering in Wellington, Fla. for many years.
She was married to John W. Hamilton on Jan. 1, 1939, at the Lenox Federated Church. She and John owned and operated Hamilton’s Furniture Store in Jefferson more than 40 years.
She was a member of Lenox Christian Fellowship Church. The Hamilton’s were deeply involved in owning and training horses. She was an active participant in the Winter Equestrian Festival from 1970-2005 in Wellington.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by three children, Charles R. (Cyndi) Hamilton of Jefferson, David L. (Paige) Hamilton of Knoxville, Tenn. and Joyce A. (Rick) Park of Jefferson; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 2007; a son, Richard J. Hamilton; two grandchildren, Ann Marie Hamilton and Jeffrey Jackson; a brother, Robert Luce; and two sisters, Irma Lee and Estella Button.
Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, at Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Road, Jefferson, with Pastor Rick Havens officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church (above address) or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004, envelopes will be available Saturday at the church.

Daughter of Daniel Bryant Luce (July 1865 England--1953 Auburn OH) and Mary Krieg (1877 Shanesville OH--13 Apr 1961 Auburn). They are buried in Maple Shade Cemetery in Auburn. Daniel was first married to Cora May (1861-1908). Mary was first married to Zeno Scott Bartholomew (1861 OH--1904).
Granddaughter of Robert Luce (Apr 1835 Alveston England--1902 Auburn) and Hannah Shatford (Mar 1840 Tewkesbury England--19 Jan 1901 Auburn).
Granddaughter of Jacob Krieg (28 June 1845 Switzerland--9 Dec 1918 Auburn) and Rebecca Dorner (8 July 1848 Shanesville--9 Apr 1935 Harpersfield OH).
