The Adams County native retired in 1978 from Corning Glass in Bluffton after 13 years of service. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and Breakfast Optimist Club, and a charter member of the Council on Aging. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine A.; daughters Barbara J. Baker of Yorktown, Susan Keller of Decatur and Mary Ann Tagtmeyer of Fort Wayne; brothers Arthur and Oscar H., both of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. Optimist service and an 8 p.m. Masonic service. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery. Memorials are to the church or Decatur Optimist Scholarship Fun
