John W. Lutes, 77, of Patterson, died Feb. 2, 1999, at Doctors Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 4, 1921 in Lowndes, MO.
He was married to Mae Lathim 06/Jul/1940 at Greenville, MO. She preceded him in death.
Later he married Freda Jewel (Matthews) Street 28/Apr/1984 at Piedmont, MO. She survives.
He had worked for the MO State Highway Department.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; serving in World War II.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Patterson.
Survivors also include two sons, Charles Edwards Lutes of Patterson, MO; Johnny Dale Lutes of Patterson, MO; two daughters, Barbara Ann Ward of Cape Girardeau, MO; Judith Duncan of Williamsville, MO; two step-daughters, Ester Simmons of Patterson, MO; Carol Presley of Vinegrove, KY; one brother, Lua Lutes; five sisters, Bessie Montgomery of Piedmont, MO; Freida Lacy of Greenville, MO; Geneva Barks of Lowndes, MO; Virgie Pashea of Potosi, MO; and Edna Fox of Cahokia, IL; eight grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Ruegg Funeral Home of Greenville. The funeral will be Thursday in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Wayne Page officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
