Born September 1, 1910, Claude passed away peacefully August 20, just two weeks before his 99 birthday. He was born and raised on a farm near Ottumwa, Iowa. Claude graduated pharmacy school from Creighton University in 1931 and married LaVon Giles in 1936. They had two daughters. During WWII he served in the Navy in the Pacific. Claude worked 34 years for Eli Lilly and Company. After retirement he and LaVon moved to Denver and resided at Heather Gardens till her death in 1998. In 2001, Claude moved to Cherry Creek Retirement Village with his friend Doris Burton. Claude was preceded in death by his wife, LaVon, sister, Maxine Ranes, and companion, Doris Burton. He is survived by daughters Lois Saul, Centennial, Donna Winter, Denver, granddaughter Kelly (Greg) Robinson and great-granddaughter Cassidy O. Robinson of Aurora, also nephews Bill and Doug Tozer. Claude enriched all our lives, mentored many and modeled how to live and how to die.
