Funeral Services Friday at 10 for John N. Ott Who Died July 9.
John N. Ott, 80, passed away Tuesday morning at 7:30 at the Ritzville Memorial hospital after an illness of five weeks.
He was the son of Sebastian and Christina Hege Ott. He was born May 19,1888, in Eppstein, Germany. In 1896 he came with his parents and brothers and sisters to Ritzville where he has lived ever since.
Mr. Ott's father built and operated the Ritzville Hotel which remained in the family until two years ago. His father and uncle purchased the Ritzville Flouring Mill at the turn of the century and the family remained interested in its operation even after controlling interest was purchased by the Centennial Milling Company.
After graduation from Gonzaga University, he served as bookkeeper for the mill and manager of the hotel. He also was assistant manager of the Ritzville Trading company for many years. From 1932 until his retirement in 1949 he
ran the Ott Chevrolet Motor company. He served for 32 years on the board of directors of the Washington division of the American Automobile Association.
A civic leader, he was a past president of the Ritzville Chamber of Commerce in addition to serving on many committees which laid the ground work for city improvement which are now part of the town.
He was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran church.
He served his country in World War I and was a member of the C. J. Newland Post of the American Legion.
His fraternal affiliations include being a past master of Ritzville Lodge No. 101 F and AM, past patron of Zenith chapter No. 55 order of Eastern Star, El Katif Shrine, and he was a charter member of the Sage Shrine club.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, at the home, whom he married August 8, 1920.
Three daughters were born to this union, Shirley, Mrs. Edwin Kiehn of Pullman; Ardy, Mrs. Harry Golden, who was killed in an air accident in 1961,and Jeanette, Mrs. Frank Burford, of Bainbridge Island. Seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Elise Wollenberg of Ritzville; and one brother, Judge Richard B. Ott of Olympia, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran church building fund or the Masonic building fund.

Pallbearers will be Willard Hennings, Richard Kembel, Carl W. Eckhardt, Walter Ott, William Rosenoff and David Hoefel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Herb Beckley, Walter Johnson, Ken Killingsworth, Lee E. Burroughs, Edward G. Cross, Walter Nissen, William Thiel, Wally Proctor,
Robert Newland, Ted Ott, John U. Pavlik, Calvin Moesle, Maynard Galbreath and Everett Kiehn.
