His illicit relationship with Sarah Grosvenor resulted in a pregnancy. She took an herbal concoction to induce an abortion, but it failed. An unlicensed doctor conducted a full abortion but Grosvenor died as a result.

Died at Pomfret, on the 7th inst., Captain Amasa Sessions, in the 84th year of his age. In 1755 he raised a respectable company in Connecticut, at the expense and for the service of Rhode Island, which he afterwards commanded at Lake George, under Sir William Johnson. These several duties he executed with ability, and to the satisfaction of the government he served.
