CAMP WHEELER MAN DROWNS

Pvt. Louis Henry Way, Jr., 20, was drowned yesterday at Lakeside when a canoe which he and a companion soldier had rented overturned.
Pvt. Alfred Terry, his companion, swam to shore after making vain efforts to save Pvt. Way.
According to Camp Wheeler authorities, where both boys are stationed, Pvt. Way is from Wilmington, Delaware, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L Way of that city. He was inducted into the Army July 22, 1942, in Camden, New Jersey, and had been stationed at Camp Wheeler about six weeks.
At a late hour last night both civilian and Army authorities were still dragging the lake in an effort to recover the body of the drowned man. Pvt. Way was a member of Co. B, 11th Training Battalion at the camp.

BODY OF SOLDIER RECOVERED FROM LAKE

The body of Pvt. Louis H. Way, 20, was recovered from the waters of Lakeside Park yesterday, Park Manager Irving Scott announced.
Pvt. Way who was stationed at Camp Wheeler, drowned when the canoe in which he and his companion, Pvt. Alfred Terry, were renting, capsized Monday.
Pvt. Way was a native of Wilmington, Delaware, Army officials said.
