Born Jan. 30, 1927, in Mulberry, he was the son of Barney D. and Mary (Curl) Samples.
On June 18, 1948, he married Betty L. Price.
He was a U.S. Army of World War II.
He was a truck driver for Terminal Transport, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of Faith Victory Family Church in Martinsville, and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include five sons, Nelson Samples and wife Corinna of Franklin, Pastor Bernie Samples and wife Janice of Barstow, Calif., John Samples and wife Pam of Ellettsville, Danny Samples of Bloomington, Denny Samples and wife Recea of Poland; one daughter, Sheryl Barnett and husband Kenny of Morgantown; and two brothers, John Samples and Raymond Samples, both of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (Price) Samples, on Aug. 13, 2006; one son, Jay Samples; his parents; one brother, Donnie Samples and two sisters, Leona Martin and Norma Jean Jackson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Costin Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Bernie Samples officiating. Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
