Continued research has shown that the Branstetter family found in Wayne County was not the same as the family found in Clark County. Daniel's probate records (found in Clark County dated April 1828) bear this fact out. As a result, although the monument on this memorial can be found in Wayne County it is factually incorrect about both his death date and the location of his grave, which has yet to be found.Daniel and Catherine Geiser Brandstetter were married in 1801 in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland. In the late 1820's, Daniel, Catherine and their children moved to a farm in Plain Township, Wayne County, Ohio. Daniel fought in the War of 1812 as a lieutenant in Allison's Regiment East Tennessee Militia. Their children:
Mary Brandstetter Neidigh (1804 - abt 1847)
John Brandstetter (1808 - 1867)
Michael Brandstetter (1813 - 1903) moved to Indiana
Daniel Brandstetter (1815 - 1886) moved to Indiana
Martin Brandstetter (1820 - 1871)
Susanah Brandstetter Eason (1821-1872)
