Bessie S. Fowler; 92, of 303 Vandiver St. died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Ellenburg Nursing Home. Born in Hart County, Ga., she was a spinner at Wellington Mill and was a member of the Wellington Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are son, Charles Ervin Fowler of Florida; daughter, Mildred Louise Roach of California; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was the widow of Paul Fowler and the daughter of the late John Edward Shiflet and Donnie McCurley Shiflet. She was preceded in death by brothers Mack S. Shiflet, Frank Shiflet, Porter Shiflet, and Denver Shiflet; and sisters, Nellie Fain, Lucille Patterson and Susie Jones.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Wellington Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs Bobby Smith and Tony Smith; burial will be in the New Silverbrook Cemetery. The body is at Woodlawn Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday. The family will be at the home of a nephew, Charles Shiflet, 1030 Monroe White Road Anderson.
