The headstone for Allen Adams shows his date of birth as March 20, 1820. However, census records and known family history indicate the 1820 date is incorrect. The year of his birth is variously given by U.S. census records as 1826, 1827, 1830 and 1833. Based on the premise that the 1827 date (as given in the latest two available censuses) is more likely to be accurate, "there is a high probability that Allen Adams was born on March 20, 1827 and died on June 21, 1906, at the age of seventy-nine".
