She was born May 29, 1928, in Lebanon, Neb., the daughter of Theodore Forrest and Wyna (Gay) Helt. She grew up in the Lebanon area and attended high school there.
On June 30, 1946, she married Harwood Lockhart in California. Her husband retired from the U.S. Navy in 1963, and they later moved to Norcatur. They moved to Norton in the late 1980s.
Survivors include her husband, Harwood "Hop" Lockhart, Norton; two daughters, Beverly and C. Eddie Whitney, Almena, and Geraldine and Richard Heil, Hays; a son, Gary and JoLynn Lockhart, Norton; a sister, Twila Carter, Norton; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Robert Hosea; and a sister, Doris Bennett. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the First Church of God in Norton. Burial was at the Norcatur Cemetery.
