Wiley Carter was one of the original settlers of South West Georgia. He was born in Warren County,Georgia. He was the son of James Carter, Jr. and Eleanor Duckworth, and the grandson of James Carter, Sr.. He moved to Georgia from Bertie County, North Carolina prior to 1787.
Wiley married Ann Ansley on Feb 18,1821 in Warren Co.,GA and after her death he married Sarah Ross (Sarah Chestnut Wilson) on Jan 25,1849 in Warren Co.,GA. He had five sons: Walker, Jesse, Sterling, Calvin, Wiley; and seven daughters, Louise, Ann, Armanda, Caroline, Euphrasia, Julia and Jane. The only child of Wiley Carter and Sarah Wilson was Sterling Carter. Wiley Carter is my 5th G Grandfather.
