Hazel (Green) Conser was born between Sumner and Miller, Nebraska on her parent's, Henry and Margaret "Maggie" (Patterson) Green's farm. She attended Miller and Kearney Public Schools and later graduated from Kearney Normal College (now University of Nebraska-Kearney). She taught school in Hampton and Edgar, Nebraska. She married Leroy Conser in 1920 and later moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma where she was very active in their Conser Hardware business and other service organizations. In the mid-1930s, Hazel and Leroy returned to Nebraska, settling on a farm owned by her parents. In the late 1940s, Hazel started teaching high school again and taught at Miller, Callaway, and Oconto until she was 78 years of age, retiring eleven years before her death.
