Julia Rankin, wife of William Rankin of Douglas, passed away at the Memorial Hospital in Casper, Wyoming Wednesday morning. Mrs. Rankin had been in ill health for many years. Her death followed surgery for gall stones. Julia was born in Colfax County, New Mexico on Jan. 1, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. McCartney, Douglas residents, who preceded her in death. She came with her parents to Wyoming in 1914 when they settled on a place near Douglas. On November 25, 1918, she was united in marriage to William Rankin, to which union there were four children born. One son, Billy, died in infancy. The others who survive her are Kathryn Rankin Jenne, Wanda Copeland and Leroy Rankin, all of this county. Other survivors are her husband; four brothers, Bill McCartney of Thermopolis, Ed McCartney of Careyhurst, Albert McCartney, now with the armed forces in China, and Gus McCartney of Ringeley, Colo.; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Hixenbaugh and Mrs. Wayne Batton of Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Oscar Shull of Arlington, Texas, Mrs. Dick Beaver of Yermo, Calif. and Mrs. Frank Batton of Douglas; four grandsons, Gary Jenne, Jacob Jenne, Donny Copeland and Gerald Copeland, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
