Services for Lillian S. Bigsby , 94, of 4 Warren St., Tully, who died Tuesday at Community-General Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Tully United Community Church. Burial will be in Tully Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the church.
A native of Fabius, Mrs. Bigsby resided most of her life in the Tully area. She was the first telephone switchboard operator in Tully, operating it inside her home for several years. Mrs. Bigsby later was a bookkeeper for nearly 20 years with Tully Bakery and then was a secretary with Abbotts Appliances in Tully. Her husband, Charles E., died in 1963.
Mrs. Bigsby was a member of Tully Baptist Church and served as its financial secretary before its merger with the Methodist church to become Tully United Community Church. She served as treasurer of the new church. The church's women's group recently changed its name to the Lillian S. Bigsby Circle in her honor.
Mrs. Bigsby also was a member of King Chapter 554, OES, the Tully Senior Citizens and the Tully Historical Society.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Paul Bigsby of Manlius, Sharon Uhle of Elbridge and Christy Lupole of North Syracuse; a brother, Albert Sherwood of Seneca Falls; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Lillian S. Bigsby Memorial Fund of Tully United Community Church.
Hartwell Funeral Home, Tully, has charge of arrangements.
