Orpheus was the third of four children born to Orpheus Aleander Sr., and Bertha Aletha (Barnard) Keener.

ASHEVILLE - Orpheus Alexander "Buster" Keener, 76, of 183 Pearson Dr., died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at the Asheville V.A. Medical Center after a brief illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from the U.S. Postal Service and a member of the American Postal Workers Union. He was a son of the late Orpheus Alexander Keener and Bertha Barnard Keener and was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Keener.
Surviving are his brother, Buelow Keener of Asheville special friends, Justin Tolley, Jonathan Tolley and Betty Tolley, all of Asheville and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Harris, the Rev. Barbara Branks and Mr. Jonathan Tolley officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Asheville High Marine Jr. R.O.T.C. Honor Guard.
