Mr. Johnston moved to his family from Clay County, Alabama to Ellis County, Texas. The family was living in Haskell County in 1909. Mr. Johnston was a farmer at first in Haskell County, from 1924-1936, he worked as a carpenter. Everyone in Haskell County still remembers the Candy Kitchen operated by T.J. Johnston and his sons.
