Services for Charlie Conner were held in the First Baptist Church. He came to Haskell County in 1908 with his parents. He attended school in the Lone Star Community. He was County Democratic Chairman from 1954 to 1962. He served as Haskell County Tax Collector from 1920 to 1928 and was Haskell County Judge from 1932 to 1938. He served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1945 to 1949. He married Leila Jeanes on 12 August 1919 in Dallas, Texas. He and Mrs. Connere owned and operated Conner Nursery and Floral Company from 1927 to 1972 when they retired. Mr. Conner was a veteran of World War I, a member of Haskell Masonic Lodge #682, Odd Fellows Lodge #525, and a charter member of the American Legion. Survived by two daughters - Geraldine Lam and Jean Buford; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters - Mrs. Dewitt Parsons, Mrs. Scott Storie, Mrs. M.N. Pritchard, Mrs. Cecil Braly; one brother - Sam Conner.
