Richard Ernest Nelson, 79, of Albany died Saturday at Albany General Hospital.

He was born in Denver to Francis and Margaret (Shea) Nelson. He moved to Lakeview at age 19 and to Albany in 1945. He had lived here ever since except for 1959-62 when he lived in Phoenix. He worked as a graphic artist at Teledyne Wah Chang until he retired.

He married Mildred Steckley on Oct. 29, 1948. She survives.

He was a former member of the First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

Other survivors include; sons Mark of Eugene and Matthew of Sunnyvale, Calif., daughter Nedra Sogn of Corvallis; brother Francis of Honolulu, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sisters Frances Te Maat, Caroline Metzler and Doris Nelson died earlier.

Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home, Third & Washington, Albany. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Richard Ernest Nelson, 79, of Albany died Saturday at Albany General Hospital.
