Neil Decker, 91, Murray City, died Sunday, May 24 at Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville.
Born June 30, 1906, New Pittsburgh, son of the late Edward and Nancy Lanning Decker, he was the widower of Mary Eva Wright Decker, who died April 8, 1978.
A retired coal miner, he was a member of the Pentecostal faith. He was past secretary of the United Mine Workers Association and was active in Community Action in the Murray City area.
Surviving are two sons, John C. (Mary) Decker and Garland "Gary" (Joyce) Decker, all of Raleigh, N.C.; five daughters, Dorothy A. Mason of Murray City, Mrs. Bill (Lola) Rowan of Tipp City, Mrs. Wendell (Carolyn) Donahoe of Logan, Mrs. Lon (Sally) Messenger of Warrenville, Ill., and Mrs. Tom (Nancy) Snedeker of Newark; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with Pastor Ivan Pullin Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 Wednesday at the funeral home.
