PLATTSBURGH -- Shannon Marie Mason, 37, of Sailly Avenue, Plattsburgh, died unexpectedly, Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., July 10, 1971, the daughter of Dennis A. Sr. and Wanda M. (Murphy) Mason.
Shannon graduated from Peru Central School in 1989. She received her associate's degree from Clinton Community College in 1991 and later attended Plattsburgh State University.
Shannon loved spending time with her companion, Mark Burke. She enjoyed reading, music, cooking, sewing, needlepoint, fishing, living life to the fullest and laughter. Most of all though, Shannon enjoyed spending time with her nephew, Alex. Her newest love was her little puppy, Penny. Words that were dear to her heart -- "Shannon felt sometimes, the jump is frightening between where I am and where I want to be. Because of all I may become I will close my eyes and leap."
Survivors include her best friend and loving companion, Mark Burke of Plattsburgh; her parents, Wanda M. and Dennis A. Mason Sr. of Peru; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis A. II and Kimberly A. (Stone) Mason of Peru; her beloved nephew, Alexander L.
