Funeral for Millie Rosalee "Rosie" Hood, 99, Lawton will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Don Barnes, Senior Pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Hood died Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Lawton.

Burial will be in Paradise Valley Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home.

She was born Nov. 10, 1910, in Stephens County to Herman L. and Mary Frances Johnson. She was the oldest of seven children. She married George E. Hood on Jan. 31, 1925. He died Dec. 4, 1976. They had one child, J. Faye Hood Easterling. She was a talented seamstress and worked at Fort Sill for many years, retiring from civil service in 1966. She continued to sew for herself and others for many years after retirement until her eyesight failed. Not only was she a talented seamstress, she was a great cook, known for her "Rosie Burgers," coconut pies and nutty chocolate cakes. She was married to an avid fisherman and also put on a great fish fry for family and friends. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God and loved going to church. She was saddened when she was unable to attend as regularly as she would have liked. She helped with many dinners and events at the church and helped make curtains and table covers when the new church opened in 1989. Gospel music as one of her favorite things to listen to and she enjoyed watching Bill Gaither Homecoming programs.

Survivors include two grandchildren: Steve Easterling and Ann Easterling, both of Lawton; three nieces: Judith Raef, Fort Smith, Ark.; Anita Tilden, Amarillo, Texas; and Wanda Faye Johnson, Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother-in-law, Jim Gilliam, Lawton; and four nephews: Bill Gilliam, Lawton; Truman Williams, Elgin; Kenneth Hood, Fletcher; and Harold Williams, Cache.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband and a daughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Building Fund.
