Verl Thomas Bennett, was born May 24, 1917 in Virginia, Idaho to Thomas Warren and Harriet Elizabeth Jucheau Bennett. Verl passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the age of 92.

Verl met and married Wanda Joyce Bloom in the Salt Lake City Temple, and set up a family home with Wanda in Pocatello. His first two children, Dale T. and Barbara Joyce were born in Pocatello before the family moved to Northern California where Verl found work painting railroad bridges throughout the northern part of the state.

In 1944, they alighted in Oakland where Verl established his own Verl T. Bennett Painting Company. Marvin Ray, (Myrna) Lenae and Connie Irene were born in Oakland. He lived in Oakland for 44 years when in 1986 he served and LDS mission with his companion wife, in Florida. Upon returning, Verl and Joyce moved to Kaysville, Utah where he resided until his recent death.

Verl was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in various church positions including member of Bishopric in Oakland, California, 40 years in Boy Scouting. While in the Oakland Berkley Stake he was called to help pioneer the use of programs for keeping LDS Church records.

He is survived by his five children, 17 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Verl was preceded in death by his loving wife Wanda on February 22, 2009, his parents, brothers, Loyde, Glenn (Ben), sisters, Alta, Wanda, and two grandsons.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 East Crestwood Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to all at the Apple Tree Assisted Living for the loving care given to Verl in his final days.
