Orlando Paden was Laura Lee Kissinger's first husband. They were married Aug 8, 1885 in Sharp County, Arkansas. They had two boys, Luther and Arthur. Orlando took the boys to California and left Laura Lee behind.
Laura Lee began seeing and fell in love with a man named Robert Thomas Soward (FAG #57137096). He was much younger than Laura Lee. She discovered she was pregnant. They planned to marry, but before they could, he died of typhoid fever.
Laura Lee lived with her parents and so when the child was born, and the census taker came around, the grandparents reported Ada as their own child. This is why the census records say she is Laura Lee's sister in some documents.
