Married - In Aurora on Wednesday, May 17th, at 10 o'clock a.m. Mr. Jacob Barrick and Mrs. Lena Huffman. Rev. A. Allen Randall officiating. The couple left on the 10:42 train for a visit to Mrs. Barrick's daughter in Seward. They will return early next week when they will be at home of their friends.

Mrs. Lena Barrick filed a petition in district court this morning asking for a decree of separate maintenance and $50 per month alimony from her husband, Jacob Barrick. The couple were married in Aurora May 17, 1911, and are aged 61 and 69 years respectively. Both have children by former marriages. Mrs. Barrick alleges that her husband deserted her July 5th.

MRS. LENA BARRICK DIES FRIDAY AT AURORA

Was Among Pioneer Residents of Hamilton County

Lenna Eggert, daughter of Henry and Henrietta Eggert, was born June 2, 1854, at St. Louis, Missouri, and passed to that Great Beyond, from an Aurora hospital, September 5, 1941, at the ripe old age of 87 years, 3 months and 3 days.

She came to Hamilton County in 1880, where on June 20 of the same year she was united to T.W. Huffman, and this union was fruitful in the birth of six children, five of whom survive her. One child died in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Etta Perry and Mrs. Josie Nelson, both of Orange, California, Carl Huffman of Gering, Nebraska, Mrs. Lottie Blair of Aurora, and Mrs. Rozella Hilliard of San Bernardino, California.

The family lived on a farm what was then known as the Alvin neighborhood and remained in this community until the death of the father in 1901. Here, because of their fine neighborly and friendly spirit, Mr. and Mrs. Huffam were affectionately called Aunt Lena and Uncle Tom.. After the death of her husband she made her home at Giltner until 1909 when she moved to Aurora.

In May 1911 she was married to Jacob Barrick of Aurora. Mr. Barrick preceded her in death, some 12 years ago.

The deceased was a loyal christian and and member of the Methodist church. She was active in church work as her health gave her opportunity and strength. She was also a charter member of the Degree of Honor lodge at Giltner while living there.

Other relatives left to mourn her loss, are three brothers, and one sister: Messrs. E.J., C.S., and W.A. Eggert, all of Aurora, and Mrs. Henrietta McCarthy of Orange, California. There are also eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternon (sic) at 2:30 at the Methodist church in Aurora with Rev. Roy Richmond officiating. Ellen and Ruth Gustafson sang "Rock of Ages" and Beautiful Valley of Eden," with Mrs. Glen Haworth as organist. Pallbearers were Frank Sam, Dan and Les Stahlnecker, L.E. Luthy and Merle Eggert.

Out of town people present were Messrs. and Mesdames Carl Huffman, Gering Nebraska; George Hilliard, San Bernardino, California; Warren Nelson, Broken Bow, Nebraska; Chas. Rurup, Utica, Nebraska; Mrs. L. Cramer, Hastings, Nebraska; Mrs. Mable Stenner, Kansas City, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. John Hafer and son, Carl, Sam Briggs and Mrs. Mae Briggs of Seward; Mrs. Bill Noble, Mrs. Alfred Bernth, Mrs. Alice Hunt, Lester Eggert, Will Stahlnecker and daughters, Glovis and Marie, and Mr. and Mrs. Les Stahlnecker, all of Grand Island.
