Services were held Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Grace Dora Kigar, 81, of 240 S. Antler, St., Gladwin, who died early Friday morning at the Gladwin Nursing Home following a short illness. Born in Antwerp, Ohio, August 28, 1888, she attended the schools in Antwerp and was a teacher for two years in Payne, Ohio. She was the daughter of Aaron and Rebecca Underwood. On May 9, 1908, the former Miss Grace Underwood and Harry W. Kigar were married in Antwerp, and came to Gladwin Township, later moving into Gladwin City. Mr. Kigar preceded her in death Aug. 1, 1963, and a son, Harold, Dec. 12, 1964.
Mrs. Kigar was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Women's Society of the church, the Gladwin County Women's Club and the Gladwin Literary Club. She had been active in the church and taught Sunday School classes for many years and also took active part in civic affairs.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Madonna Spring of Petosky and Mrs. William (Ruth) Dersnah of Picton, Ontario, Can.; two sons, Donald N. and Rollin G. Kigar of Gladwin; a brother, Thomas Underwood of Jackson; and one sister, Mrs. A. J. Pease of Toledo, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
