Oct 29, 1909 - Three year old Velma Thompson drowned in Grasshopper Creek. The little girl, accompanied by another child wandered down to the footbridge across the creek and lost her balance and fell into the water. Thomas Underwood recovered her body in about five foot of water. She was buried two days later in the Bannack Cemetery. Her tombstone has a little lamb on the top. The inscription reads: "A loving one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, that never can be filled."
