Services for Hans Appell, 71 of Des Moines will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Popejoy.
Mr. Appell died Monday of an inflammation of the bone marrow at Des Moines General Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Des Moines, he was the retired owner of a body shop and member of Union Park Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; a son, Norman of Peoria, Illinois; a daughter, JoAnn Swalin of Pomeroy, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
