He and his family came to Crook county Wyoming in 1881 from Moody county, South Dakota and were some of the earliest pioneers. They settled on the Little Missouri and later moved into the vicinity of what is now Hulett. They built a home on Blacktail Creek about a mile from present day Hulett on what is now the JH ranch. In the mid 1880's Mr. Hulett applied for a post office. It was granted in 1886 and Hulett, Wyoming was on the map. A few years later they moved to a ranch in the Terhune country of Crook county.
