OBITUARY

MRS. JESSIE PEARL GREELEY

Jessie Pearl Miller, eldest daughter of Harry and Carrie Willoughby Miller, was born in English township, Lucas county, Iowa, on Nov. 28, 1891, and departed this life at her home in Williamson, Iowa, Nov. 6, 1936, at the age of 44 years, 11 months and 8 days.

She was married to Thomas Greeley on Sept. 9, 1914, to which union three children were born, Mary Ellen, who died in infancy, Wilma Irene and Bernard James, who, with the husband, survive her. She also leaves her mother and two nieces, Helen Louise and Frances Lea Spiker. Her father and only sister, Mrs. Lloyd Spiker, passed into the Great Beyond several years ago.

Mrs. Greeley's entire life was spent in Lucas county, where she had a wide acquaintance and where she leaves many friends in sorrow because of her untimely death. She taught for several years in the Lucas county public schools and many of her former pupils now attest to her efficiency in school management and as an instructor.

She served as president of the Williamson Parent-Teachers Association in its earlier history, and has always taken an active interest in the Ladies' Aid of the Christian church in which she has had membership for many years.

Since the death of her sister, Mrs. Spiker, she has been the comfort and stay of her mother, and she has been unstinting in her devotion to the two little motherless nieces, filling a mother's place in their lives as nearly as it would be possible for any but a mother to do. It will be the loved ones in her own home, however, who will most keenly feel the loss of this wife and mother, but the memories of her loving solicitude and devotion will be a guiding influence in the days to come as they are left to carry on without her presence.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Sam Williamson, of Fairfield, Iowa, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home Monday afternoon at two o'clock and were attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful, testimonials of the esteem in which deceased was held as well as sympathy for those left in bereavement. Burial was in the Oxford cemetery.
