David J. Hodler, 71, a resident of Brownsburg since 1965, died Saturday, February 9 in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. The son of George and Anna Wurtz Hodler, he was born August 24, 1913 at Columbus. Mr. Hodler was a retired industrial X-ray technician for Stewart-Warner Corporation and a Navy veteran of World War II. A member of the Columbus Loyal Order of the Moose, he was captain for the Safety Patrol for the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race from 1960 to 1984. Services were Tuesday, February 12 in Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with Rev Burkman officiating. Burial was in Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis. Surviving are wife, Mayme Hodler; sons, George of Martinsville, David of Brownsburg, Richard of Indianapolis, and Robert of Ft. Wayne; daughters, Deanna Ganske of Indianapolis, Mary Sorum of Arizona, and Karon Jeffery of Florida; sister, Mary Grove of Columbus; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
