The heirs of the Hamlin estate south of Medford got into court with their family squabbles at Medford last week. Geo. Hamlin was arrested at the insistance of his sister, Mrs. Rosa Wilson, but was acquitted by a jury. Mrs. Wilson is not satisfied with the verdict and will try to get it into court further. The evidence showed that Hamlin knocked his sister down three times with a picket as a result of their quarrel over the division line between their places, and was rendered unconscious by the last blow. He claimed self-defense, though, and exhibited a wound where his sister had hit him with a big rock and also where she had walloped him with a fence picket before he retaliated. The war had been brewing for several weeks.

The case of the state vs. G. W. Hamblin charged with assault with intent to kill his sister, Mrs. Rosanna Wilson, was tried before Justice Walton Friday and resulted in a dismissal. District Attorney Benson having made another brilliant failure. Crowell & Parker ably defended Hamblin. The scrap occurred over the marking of the division fences and is one of the links of the bitter contention of the heirs of the late James Hamblin. It was demonstrated that both sides to this family quarrel are well-equipped with pugnacious fighting ability.
