College and Professional Basketball Player. He attended Austin High School in Knoxville, Tennessee and played collegiate basketball at the University of Cincinnati. He was a member of Ed Jucker's Bearcats teams that won two consecutive NCAA titles (1960-1961 and 1961 to 1962). Hogue captained the 1961-1962 squad and was named "Most Outstanding Player" of the NCAA Tournament. For two seasons (1962 to 1964), he played at the center position in the National Basketball Association with the New York Knicks and Baltimore Bullets, appearing in 65 games before an injury cut short his career. Hogue was the number two overall pick during the 1962 NBA Draft. Following his playing career, he worked for the United States Postal Service. He died from heart and kidney failure.
