Jesse Lowell McMasters was born in Walters, Oklahoma on October 10, 1935, the fourth child of Frances Lee (Riney) and Jesse K. McMasters. He entered his Heavenly home on December 16, 2021 with his loving wife of sixty-six and half years by his side.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021, between 5:00 and 6:30PM at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 10:30AM at Highland Park Baptist Church, 1002 S. 10th, Duncan, with Pastor Jerry Couch officiating. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, under the care of Whitt Funeral Home.

The first school years were in Porterville, California. He finished elementary grades at Emerson and attended Duncan schools until seventh grade. His family bought a farm in the Empire school district and he started eighth grade there.

He loved living on the farm, plowing the fields, planting the wheat and driving the tractor. He won a tractor driving contest in high school. He raised Chester White pigs and won Grand Champion and Reserve Grand for his pigs in 1953. He loved 4-H and FFA. He graduated from Empire in 1954. Upon graduation Uncle Sam called for his service and he joined the Air Force.

On June 18, 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Minnie Lou Perkins. His first military assignment was Sacramento, California. Their first child, Bobby Lowell, was born in 1957. Upon discharge from the service, he entered Cameron College in Lawton. Their second child, Kathy Ann, was born in 1959 in Lawton. After graduating from Cameron, he transferred to Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater. After two years it became Oklahoma State University. The Cowboys, Pistol Pete, orange and black would be his love and his school. He loved watching the Cowboys play and finally beating OU in 2021. He graduated from OSU with a BS in Agriculture Engineering in 1963.

Lowell began his career with Soil Conservation Service in Chickasha, Oklahoma – a new job and every two years a new town including Clinton, Guymon, Woodward, Oklahoma City, Moore, Walterboro, South Carolina, back to Pauls Valley for 29 years and, finally, his last office was Duncan. Their third child, David Wayne, was born in 1965 in Guymon. He loved working for SCS, and held many jobs and helped to build a lot of dams. He received many awards during his 43 years of service.

Retiring in 1991, he and Minnie started a new adventure. With the purchase of a new van and travel trailer they drove 33,000 miles to Alaska and back, saw a lot of Canada, made many friends, square danced in many towns, and saw a rainbow at 2:30 in the morning in Alaska. Lowell loved to travel and Hawaii, Cozumel, and winters in South Texas was his dream. Many years of travel ended as his memory began to fade.

The final move was to Duncan in 2002. They visited and fell in love with the church and the people at Highland Park Baptist. He looked forward to church every Sunday and loved all the activities, especially game night. He loved to hear Carolyn play the piano.

He finally moved to Country Club Care in March 2021. He loved all the people there and they were good to him. Many thanks to each one of them for the love and care they gave "Jesse."

Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Minnie; three children: Bobby Lowell (Evelyn), Kathy Ann Hume (Dirk), and David Wayne (Jeannine); grandchildren: Jesse (Amanda), Jonathan (Tish), Joshua (Robin), and Joseph (Janna) McMasters, Candace and Grant Hume, Christopher, Andrew and Heather McMasters, Rob and Mandi King; eight great grandchildren; sister, Gracalee Johns of Duncan; many nieces, nephews and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two sisters and one brother.

Many thanks go to the nurses and to Dr. Vonfeldt of the Duncan hospital COVID ward. They took such good and loving care of him, as well as his wife. Also, thanks go to Whitt Funeral Home for all their help and caring.

Lowell was a kind and gentle man who loved his wife, his family, his friends, his church, and most of all, he loved God. He shall be missed.
