Bartholomew Balliet was one of the leading contractors and builders of Allentown, and during his business career built many handsome residences and a number of churches.

Bart served in the war of 1812, 5th Company, under Captain John F. Ruhe, of the Second Regiment Volunteer Infantry. He was elected to the Town Council of Allentown in 1839, 1847 and 1848.

Husband of Anna Weiss. They were the parents of ten children, three who died young, the others are Maria, Edmund, William, Henrietta, Franklin, Allen, and Joseph.
