Member of Battery 1, 1st L.O.A. , enrolled on 26 Aug. 1864. Drowned in Chattanooga Creek June 25,1865, aged 25 years. Described as 5'8" tall, blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, a farmer.
He married sisters.
He was ordered with six others to gather a load of wood for the Battery with a wagon and mules. While going across the Chattanooga River the team got into very deep water in a strong current. In an attempt to get out of the current the soldiers left the wagon and headed for shore. Milton Young couldn't swim and also became entangled in the mules and harness and drowned. His body was recovered the same day.
