Michael was born to Vernon Gale and Darlene Hunt Rees at Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth, Ks. He attended schools in Lansing, Ks. graduating from Lansing Rural High School in 1966. Michael worked for Kaaz Construction for a short period, then was employed with Hallmark Cards, Inc. in August, 1966. Michael was married to Marlene Hofflinger on 06 April, 1968. They had two children....Brian Gale Rees born 19 June, 1969 and Tina Louise Rees born 04 June, 1971. Michael was drafted into the U.S. Army on 06 May, 1968. He served one year in Vietnam, returned to the U.S. and served the remainder of his two years at Ft. Carson, Colorado. Upon his return to civilian life, Michael continued working for Hallmark Cards in Leavenworth until his death....from cancerous brain tumors... in 1997. Michael was a very devoted husband, father, son, and brother. Michael loved the game of golf....and also participated in the sports of mens softball, volleyball, bowling, tennis, and playing cards with his friends. He enjoyed watching his son Brian participate in wrestling, football, baseball and golf...and his daughter Tina in track and cheerleading. In 1992, Michael and Marlene purchased the DQ franchise in Lansing, Ks. and Marlene and family continued to run the DQ Restaurant at 402 N. Main in Lansing until the sale of the franchise in April, 2002.
Most important in his life was his committment to Jesus Christ....striving every day to follow Him and becoming the person God wanted him to be, showing his family and friends...through his life...the perfect example of living for Christ. Mike was a member of Wallula Christian Church....being baptized in early childhood...and a Deacon of the Service Ministry at the time of his death.
Micael is missed by many but we know he is "Safe in the Arms of Jesus".
